Restaurant Review: St.Louis Burger vs. Z Deli/Cookie N' Ice

St. Louis Burger

R. Batataes, 242 - Jardim Paulista, São Paulo

St. Louis' "Burning House" Burger was juicy, full of taste, spicy and I loved it even more than Z Deli's Lamb Burger, which at the time I thought it was the best burger I ever tasted in my life. (In second place I would say Mr. Camembert and in third Jalapeño Burger - having in account Z Deli burgers only, of course).

I went two times to Z Deli, both times to the one at Rua Haddock Lobo, 1386 - Cerqueira César, SP. The fries are amazing, the cheesecake nothing special. They have good beer.

The problem at St. Louis is that it is very small and there is always a big waiting line. We waited for an hour and a half at least. But the doorman was super nice and kept making jokes everytime I went to bother and ask him how long it would still take.

The lemonade tasted artificial. We got no fries, because we were coming from a Vegan Fair that was happening at Club Homs (Paulista Avenue) where we ate jackfruit coxinha, Acarajé and Polenta with mushroom sauce and a disgusting vegan cheese.

Ps. The traditional (non vegan) version of Coxinha is a popular street food snack in Brazil. A savory dough shaped into a drumstick around a creamy chicken salad filling, then battered and fried.

Ps.2 Acarajé is a specialty of the state of Bahia in Brazil, and a popular street food and beach snack. Black-eyed peas, seasoned with ground dried shrimp and onions, are shaped into fritters and deep fried in palm (dende) oil, then split and filled with various fillings, such as vatapa, or in this case a spicy shrimp and onion mixture.

Jackfruit Coxinha (Coxinha de Jaca) - it wasn't as disgusting and weird as we thought it would be. It was pretty decent, surprisingly.

And while waiting for a table at St. Louis, we went for a walk and got a Cookie N' Ice.

The Cinnamon cookie was really good, the dark chocolate one not that much and the vanilla ice cream tasted cheap and boring. Not worth it, regardless it's not expensive. The place was really empty. No wonder why.

See you around! ;)
