Restaurant Review: TonTon
My mom came to the the city and we went for lunch!
We went to TonTon Restaurante, a contemporanean bistro, with a lovely, hype and eclectic decoration. I loved the Flaming Lips picture and what instantly reminded me of René Magritte's paintings like "The Man in the Bowler Hat" or "The Son of a Man". Look how lovely:

And René Magritte's "The Son of a Man":

Maybe is has nothing to do with that, but those random objects reminded me of the famous "ceci n'est pas un pipe". As Magritte puts it, “A thing which is present can be invisible, hidden by what it shows” - explaining the "Treachery of Images". But it would have being amazing if they had used it in that very subtle but meaningful manner (because they did not use a pipe, but other objects) to make us perceive the hidden flavor of their cuisine. Or maybe it has really nothing to do with it and my brain was just wandering in my nostalgic imagination.
The maître was a French lady, très sympa and charming with her strong accent. All the starters looked so appetizing that it was really hard task to choose one. The maître suggested the Grilled Scallops. They were sent from heaven, it was absolutely divine!! I was definitely having a foodgasm, falling into some kind of transcendent spirit mode.

Main plate: I heard that they had the best Moqueca in SP, so guess what? I ordered one. For those who do not know what Moqueca is, it is a Brazilian Traditional dish from the north: Stew of calamari, white fish with palm oil, peppers & coconut milk Served with rice, farofa & grilled banana R$56.
It was very delicate and the coconut milk and the banana added a very special flavour to it. It was the best moqueca I have ever tasted.

My companion's choice was rather meaty: Mignon Tournedo {Tomato & mushrooms grilled, bernaise & fries} R$49. I thought it was a boring plate, and I don't mind about meat, it was good and all, but the fries... Oh. My. God. I stole many dozens of fries hahha.

Dessert: Turkish FIG Cake, toffee e gelato R$18
I heard so many thing about it, and they made it sound as it were such a big deal! But I didn't think likewise. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. It just didn't ring the bell for me.

And said so, my duty here is over.
